- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. maraschino cherry juice
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. maraschino cherries, chopped and drained
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease bottom only of 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan. Beat all ingredients on medium speed for 45 seconds except cherries.

3Stir in cherries and pour into pan.

4Bake 70 to 75 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

5Immediately loosen and remove from pan.

6Cool completely before slicing.
