Cherry Nut Cake

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. maraschino cherries, cut up
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Directions

    Cream the sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.

    Then add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition and very well after the fourth one.

    Add remaining ingredients and fold in the cherries and walnuts.

    Pour into a prepared tube cake pan. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes.
