- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. unsifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 can sour pitted cherries (undrained)
- 1/2 c. sugar (additional)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 325°.

2While oven heats, use to melt margarine in a 9-inch square pan.

3Blend in mixing bowl 1 cup sugar and baking powder; add milk and vanilla.

4Stir until smooth.

5Pour over melted margarine.

6Do not stir.

7Pour the cherries and syrup over flour mixture trying to distribute cherries evenly.

8Do not stir.

9Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar over cherries.

10Do not stir.

11Bake 1 hour.
