Cherry Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 4 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • dash of ground cloves
  • 1 c. unsweetened apple juice
  • 16 oz. can tart cherries (in water)
  • 1/3 c. chopped walnuts or almonds
  • 3 to 4 drops red food coloring (optional)

Directions

    Mix sugar, cornstarch and spices in medium saucepan.

    Add apple juice, a little at a time to prevent lumps.

    Add food coloring.

    Cook over medium heat until mixture starts to boil and cook for 2 minutes more.

    Stir in cherries and nuts; heat through. Serve warm over pork or poultry.
