Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. milk
  • 6 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. chilled half and half
  • 1 (8 oz.) jar maraschino cherries

Directions

    Mix sugar, salt, milk and egg yolks in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thickened (bubbles appear).

    Cool to room temperature and add half and half, vanilla and cherries, including juice.

    Freeze in crank type freezer per manufacturer's instructions.
