  • 1 broiler-fryer (about 3 lb.), cut up
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 1/2 c. thinly sliced onion (1 medium)
  • 1/2 c. thinly diagonally sliced celery
  • 1/2 c. dry white wine
  • 1/2 tsp. marjoram
  • 2 large (1 lb.) tart apples, cored and sliced thin

    Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper.

    Brown well in hot oil in skillet.

    Add onion and celery; saute until vegetables are tender.

    Add wine and marjoram.

    Cover; simmer for 25 minutes. Stir in apples.
