  • 1 (2 to 3 lb.) chicken
  • 2 lb. onions, sliced
  • 2 cans mushrooms, drained
  • 3 Tbsp. garlic salt
  • 2 tsp. pepper (sprinkle between layers)

    Cut up chicken.

    Alternate layers of chicken, onions and mushrooms, finishing with onions on top. Add 1 1/2 cups water. Cover pan and put in a 400° oven for 10 minutes.

    Turn down the heat to 175° and cook for 8 hours without burning it.

    One half hour before serving, put chicken under broiler for 15 minutes to brown top and turn gently under to brown.

    Serve with potatoes or noodles.
