  • 1 chicken
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3/4 c. cool water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • black pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Boil chicken until tender. Cool and debone.

    Save broth.

    Make up dough as for biscuits. Roll out.

    Put into the pot of boiling broth. Put as many dumplings as it takes. Cook until tender, then layer a row of dumplings and a row of chicken, about 3 rows, in baking dish.

    Cut margarine and place over top.

    Roll dough as in dumplings. Cut into strips. Crisscross over top. Cook only until slightly brown.
