  • 1 cut up (3 to 4 lb.) stewing chicken
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. shortening
  • 3/4 to 1 c. water
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. potatoes, diced
  • 1 c. sliced carrots
