- 1 stewing chicken
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1 qt. stewed tomatoes
- 2 c. shell or kidney beans
- 3 medium potatoes
- 4 c. corn
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Stew chicken in 2 to 3 quarts water until bones can be easily removed, about 2 1/4 hours.

2To reduce fat, chill broth until fat rises to top and skim off.

3Combine boned chicken, broth and all other ingredients in stew pot and simmer until all is tender, stirring occasionally.

4Add water, as necessary.

5Longer, slower cooking makes it best.
