Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 fresh jalapeno peppers, chopped (optional)
  • 2 (8 oz. each) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can each: kidney beans and pinto beans, drain and rinse
  • 2 to 4 Tbsp. chili powder to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • salt to taste

Directions

    In a large pot, heat oil and add onion, garlic and peppers. Saute until onion is tender and add meats.

    Cook through.

    Add tomatoes and tomato sauces and beans.

    Add remaining ingredients and lower heat to simmer for 1 hour.

    Serves 8 to 10.

    Serve over elbow macaroni or noodles.
