Ingredients
- 2 green peppers, chopped
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 c. oil
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. canned chili peppers, chopped (optional)
- 4 lb. whole, peeled tomatoes
- 2 lb. cooked, drained kidney beans
Directions

1In heavy-bottomed saucepan, cook peppers, onions, garlic and bay leaves in oil, stirring frequently, until vegetables are soft. Add chili powder, salt and sugar.

2Cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes more.

3Add meat and cook until lightly brown.

4Add chili peppers, tomatoes and their juice and kidney beans.

5Simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours.

6Yields 6 to 8 servings.
