- 2 lb. ground or cubed meat
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 4 medium onions, sliced
- 2 c. (canned) strained stewed tomatoes
- 2 c. (canned) red kidney beans
- 4 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 tsp. each: salt, red pepper and chili powder
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 c. corn meal
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. sugar
Directions

1Saute meat and onions in butter until browned.

2Add tomatoes, beans, celery, salt and pepper.

3Simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

4Add chili powder and simmer 30 minutes more.
