- 6 tablespoons oil
- 3 cups chopped onions
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2 Bell Peppers (remove seeds and webbing)thickly sliced
- 4 Green Chilies, diced (or 4 oz. can Green Chilies)
- 4 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 3 pounds tomatoes (can use caned chopped)
- 3 6-ounce cans of tomato paste
- 24 ounces tomato sauce
- 4 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
- 3 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/4 teaspoons pepper
- 3 tablespoons cumin
- Worcestershire sauce to taste
- 4 Bay leaves
- 6 6-ounce can kidney beans, do not drain
Directions

1In a large pot, heat oil. Saute onions, garlic, and green pepper until tender. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking up the chunks with a fork. Add the remaining ingredients except the kidney beans and cover. Simmer for an hour. Add the kidney beans and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove the green pepper and bay leaves before serving.
