Chili Rolls

  • 18 soft French or sourdough rolls
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
  • 1 (4 oz.) can green chili sauce
  • 1 1/2 (8 oz. size) cans tomato sauce
  • salt, black pepper and chili powder to taste
  • 3/4 lb. Cheddar cheese

    Cut slit in side of each roll (do not cut all the way through). Scoop out insides.

    Set aside.

    Brown beef, onion and garlic in skillet.
  4. 4
    Add chili sauce, tomato sauce, salt, black pepper and chili powder.

    Simmer, stirring for 10 minutes.

    Cut cheese into chunks.

    Stir into meat mixture and heat until almost melted.

    Fill rolls with chili mixture.

    Wrap each in foil.

    Heat at 300° for 30 minutes.
