Chili Soup

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 lb. hamburger
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 2 qt. tomato juice
  • 1 1/2 qt. water
  • 1 qt. kidney beans, cooked
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. chili powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/8 tsp. red pepper (optional)
  • 4 round Tbsp. cornstarch or enough to thicken as you prefer

Directions

    Fry onion and hamburger (brown).

    Heat tomato juice, sugar, chili powder, salt and water to boiling point.

    Reserve some water to dissolve cornstarch.

    Add hamburger and cornstarch thickening and keep stirring until thickened.

    Add beans.

    Cook for 5 minutes.
