- 5 level c. flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 stick butter or margarine
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 8 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- vegetable oil
- 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Rub in the butter or margarine to the flour.

2Add baking soda and mix thoroughly.

3Whisk together the nutmeg, eggs, sugar and salt and add to the flour.

4Mix together and add water.

5Knead well and cover.

6Leave for about 10 minutes for flour to rise if self-rising flour is not being used.

7Spread the pastry flat thin on a level board or table top, using a rolling pin.

8Cut into squares or triangular shapes (small, bite size pieces) and spread a little flour over them to stop them from sticking together. Deep fry in vegetable oil until golden brown and drain off oil by placing on absorbent paper.

9Serve as snacks with your favorite drink.
