- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. margarine or butter, softened
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 c. self-rising flour
- 2 c. M&M's plain chocolate candies
- 1 c. chopped nuts (if desired)
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Mix sugars, shortening, margarine, vanilla and eggs in large bowl.

3Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in candies and nuts.

4Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls, about 2-inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

5Press 3 or 4 additional candies in each cookie, if desired.

6Bake until light brown, 9 to 11 minutes.

7Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
