- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. water
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour baking pans.

3Measure all ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

4Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.

5Beat 3 minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally.

6Pour into pans.

7Bake in an oblong pan for 40 to 45 minutes.

8Layer pans for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

9Ice with Peanut Butter Topping.
