  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Melt shortening in water and add to flour, sugar and cocoa. Put soda in buttermilk; stir.

    Then add with eggs and vanilla to first mixture.

    Mix well.

    Bake in loaf or angel food cake pan for 40 minutes at 325°.
