Chocolate Caramel Bars

- 1 German chocolate cake mix
- 1 stick oleo, melted
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk, divided
- 1/2 c. nuts (optional)
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
Directions

1Melt caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk and set aside.

2Mix together the cake mix, oleo, nuts and 1/3 cup milk.

3Press half of cake mixture in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

4Bake for 6 minutes at 350°.

5Remove from oven and pour caramel sauce over cake. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.

6Crumble the rest of the cake mixture on top and bake for 10 minutes. Let cool before cutting. Keeps best if refrigerated.
