- 1 cup butter
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 1/2 cups flour, all-purpose
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups carrots shredded
- 3/4 cup nuts chopped
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350F (180C).

2Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

3Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture alternately with water and vanilla.

5Fold in carrots, nuts and chips.

6Turn into prepared 9x13 inch pan.

7Bake for 45 minutes.

8Cool and frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
