- 1/2 cup Crisco shortening
- 1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
- 2 3/4 cups sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- One 12-ounce package semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts
Directions

1Cream shortening, butter, and sugar.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.

3Sift flour with baking powder.

4Add to creamed mixture, alternating with milk.

5Roll nuts and chocolate chips in a little flour and add to mixture, then add vanilla.

6Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.

7Place in cold oven and bake at 325 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours, or until done.
