- 2 c. milk
- 2 (2 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 1/4 c. Karo syrup
- 4 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Scald 1 3/4 cups milk with chocolate and corn syrup in top of double boiler over boiling water.

2Mix cornstarch, sugar and salt in a bowl.

3Add 1/4 cup milk.

4Add egg yolks and blend.

5Quickly add mixture to scalded milk.

6Stir until thickened.

7Cover and cook 5 to 7 minutes (longer on low heat).

8Add butter and vanilla; cool.

9Pour into a 9-inch baked pie shell.

10Top with whipped cream or meringue.
