Chocolate Cream Pie

Ingredients
- 2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. Karo light corn syrup
- 4 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 (9-inch) pastry shell
- 2 sq. unsweetened baking chocolate
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Scald 1 3/4 cups milk with chocolate and Karo into top of double boiler.

2Blend cornstarch with remaining milk.

3Mix in sugar and salt. Add egg yolks and beat until well blended.

4Add all at once to scalded chocolate milk. Stir constantly until thickened. Cover and cook 5 to 7 minutes longer. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Cool.

5Pour into baked shell. Top with meringue. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes, or until meringue is golden.
