  • 1 1/4 c. dates, cut up
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. walnuts
  • 1 pkg. chocolate bits

Directions

    Cover dates with boiling water.

    Mix Crisco, sugar and eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients.

    Add dates and chocolate bits.

    Bake in 9 x 12-inch pan for approximately 30 minutes at 350°.

    Cool and sprinkle with xxxx sugar.
