- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. nuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Boil 1 cup sugar and 2 cups water for 10 minutes.

2Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar.

3Add vanilla.

4Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture alternating with milk.

5Mix well.

6Pour hot syrup into 1 1/2-quart baking dish.

7Drop batter by spoonfuls into syrup.

8Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes.

9Serve with whipped cream or ice cream and top with nuts.
