- 2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. Karo syrup
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1 sq. unsweetened chocolate (1 oz.)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Mix together thoroughly.

2Stir over low heat until shortening and chocolate are melted, stirring constantly.

3Bring rapidly to a full rolling boil; boil 1 minute.

4Remove from heat and beat until lukewarm.

5Add 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring and continue beating until icing begins to lose its gloss.

6(Considerable beating is required.)

7If icing does not stiffen after 30 minutes, add 1 teaspoon confectioners sugar.

8If too stiff, add 1 teaspoon of milk.
