  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda

Directions

    Sift dry ingredients together in a large bowl. In saucepan, mix oleo, water and Crisco. Bring to a rapid boil. Pour over dry ingredients.

    Mix buttermilk, eggs and soda together and then add to the other ingredients. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes. (Pour into a 9 x 12-inch greased and floured cake pan.)
