  • 1 3/4 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • sprinkle of salt
  • pinch of cream of tartar (in egg whites)
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar (per egg white)
  • 9-inch pie shell, cooked

Directions

    Cook milk, flour, cocoa, sugar, salt and egg yolks until thick.

    Add vanilla and butter; set aside to cool, while beating egg whites.

    Cover pie with meringue.

    Bake at 325° until brown, about 25 minutes.
