- 2 sticks butter (room temperature)
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 4 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 c. milk (room temperature)
- 1/2 c. shortening (room temperature)
- 5 eggs (room temperature)
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
Directions

1Cream butter, shortening and sugar well.

2Add eggs, one at a time, and blend.

3Sift together flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder.

4Add flour and milk alternately, starting and ending with flour.

5Add flavoring.

6Bake in large 10-inch tube pan, well-greased and floured.

7Bake at 315° for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes in pan and cool on rack for 5 minutes.

8Then turn out onto plate.

9Leave out the cocoa and add a little more flour if you want a plain cake.
