  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Cream butter and shortening with sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, and blend well after adding each one.

    Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with milk.

    Pour batter into greased and floured tube pan.

    Bake in a 325° oven for 1 hour and 25 minutes.
