  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa (heaping)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk

Directions

    Cream butter and shortening.

    Add sugar and mix well.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

    Add vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with milk, ending with dry ingredients.

    Bake in a greased and floured tube pan at 325° for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
