  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 5 eggs
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 to 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    Have margarine at room temperature.

    Blend with Crisco.

    Add sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, blending after each addition. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.

    Mix for 2 to 3 minutes on medium speed.

    Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 325° for 80 minutes.
