- 2 sticks butter or margarine
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. sifted cake flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sweet milk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 5 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. cocoa
Directions

1Cream shortening and butter; add sugar and beat and cream until well blended.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Sift flour and dry ingredients together three times.

4Add to other mixture alternately with milk, to which vanilla has been added.

5Blend thoroughly.

6Turn into a greased and floured tube pan.

7Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
