- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/3 c. water
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 egg whites
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Lightly grease and flour a 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan, then set aside.

2In a large mixer bowl, stir together flour, sugar and soda.

3In a medium saucepan, combine water, margarine and cocoa powder.

4Bring just to boiling, stirring constantly.

5Remove from the heat.

6Add to dry ingredients, beating on low speed of electric mixer just until combined.

7Add buttermilk, egg white, egg and vanilla.

8Beat on low speed for 1 minute (batter will be thin).

9Pour into the prepared pan.

10Bake in a 350° oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

11Cool completely.
