Chocolate Sheet Cake

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. all purpose flour
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk (or 1 Tbsp. vinegar or lemon juice to 1 c. milk)
  • 2 well beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Sift in large bowl sugar and flour.

    In sauce pan mix cocoa, margarine and water, bring to a rapid boil and pour into flour mixture.

    Stir until well blended.

    Add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon and mix well.

    Pour in a long greased and floured sheet pan.

    Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

    Five minutes before the cake is to come out of oven, start preparation for icing.
