  • 2 c. unsifted flour
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening (Crisco white)
  • 1/2 c. walnuts or hazelnuts, finely chopped

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    In a large bowl combine first 4 ingredients.

    Thoroughly blend.

    Using 1 teaspoon of dough for each cookie, shape with hands into 2-inch logs.

    Place 1/2-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake in a 350° oven for 13 minutes.

    Cool thoroughly.
