Chocolate Shortbread Logs

Ingredients

  • 2 c. unsifted flour
  • 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1/2 c. walnuts, finely chopped

Directions

    In a large bowl, combine first 4 ingredients and blend thoroughly.

    Using about 1 teaspoon of dough for each cookie (rolled into a log), bake on an ungreased cookie sheet in 350° oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

    Cool thoroughly.

    Melt chocolate and shortening over hot, not boiling, water.

    Remove from heat.

    Dip ends of cookie in chocolate and then nuts.

    Place on waxed paper until firm.
