Ingredients

  • 2 lb. cubed beef, pork or veal (or 1 lb. beef, 1/2 lb. pork and 1/2 lb. veal)
  • 2 large onions
  • 3 c. chopped celery
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 4 beef bouillon cubes
  • 4 c. tomato juice
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • large can bean sprouts
  • 2 cans water chestnuts, sliced

Directions

    Brown meat and onion in hot oil.

    Add rest of ingredients, except bean sprouts and water chestnuts.

    Dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water.

    Simmer 30 minutes.

    Add bean sprouts and water chestnuts.

    Simmer 20 to 30 minutes longer.

    Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.
