- 12 ripe apples
- 6 red bell peppers
- 6 green bell peppers
- 6 medium onions
- 1 cabbage
- 1/2 c. salt
- 3 c. vinegar
- 5 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. turmeric
- 1/2 box pickling spices

1Chop all vegetables like kraut.

2Pour salt over and soak 2 hours in ice cubes.

3Drain in colander.

4Boil 3 cups vinegar, 2 cups water, 5 cups sugar, 1 tsp. turmeric, 1/2-box pickling spices. Put chow-chow in mixture until color changes.

5Pack in jars and seal.
