Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 lb. onion, sliced
  • 1 head celery
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 c. cooked meat (pork, chicken, etc.)
  • 2 Tbsp. cold water
  • 1 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 can bean sprouts, drained or 1 can Chinese mixed vegetables, drained
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar

Directions

    Melt butter or margarine in pot.

    Add 1 pound onions, sliced. Cook until soft.

    Add 1 head of celery, cut in pieces, salt and pepper and 1 1/2 cups hot water.

    Cook, covered, until celery is soft.

    Add 1 can bean sprouts, drained (or Chinese mixed vegetables, drained) and 2 cups cooked meat.

    Mix well and cook 5 minutes.

    Combine cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce and sugar. Add to meat and stir lightly.

    Cook a few minutes.

    Serve over rice and noodles.
