  • 1 1/2 lb. pork, chicken or beef cubed
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 large onion cut in 8 wedges
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 small head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 small can bean sprouts, drained
  • 1 large can chop suey vegetables drained
  • 1/3 c. soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/5 tsp. ginger
  • Chow mein noodles or rice

Directions

    Cut meat into 1/2 to 3/4 inch pieces and brown in large skillet.

    Sprinkle with salt, add onion and water.

    Cover tightly and cook slowly for 45 minutes.

    Add Cabbage and cook 10 minutes. Stir in bean sprouts and chop suey vegetables.

    Blend soy sauce with cornstarch and ginger.

    Gradually add to mixture, stirring to blend.

    Cook until thicken, stirring occasionally.
