Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions

    Soften 1 package of dry yeast in warm water.

    Scald 1 cup milk, pour over sugar, salt and margarine.

    Cook to lukewarm.

    Add softened yeast and beat in flour.

    Turn dough onto floured board and let rise until double in bulk.

    Punch down and divide in 6 equal parts, cover and let stand 10 minutes.

    Roll each portion into lengthwise strips.

    Use 3 strips for each loaf, braid together.
