  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c. sherry or wine
  • 3 1/2 c. chopped fruit
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 2 c. nuts

Directions

    Mix spice cake mix, shortening and boiling water.

    Let stand for 30 minutes.

    Beat and add 2 eggs and sherry.

    Combine the chopped fruit, raisins and nuts.

    Stir into batter.

    Bake in greased and paper lined loaf or tube pan until done at 300°.
