  • 2 c. broken pecans
  • 1 1/2 sticks oleo
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 8 oz. dates, chopped
  • 1 lb. crystalized cherries, cut in half
  • 1 lb. crystalized pineapple, in chunks

Directions

    Sprinkle pecans over greased and floured 10 x 5 x 1-inch pan. Cream oleo and add sugar.

    Continue creaming.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Continue beating.

    Then add flour and vanilla; mix well. Press batter down over nuts (wetting your hands helps).

    Spread dates, then cherries and pineapple over batter.

    Wet hands and press down.

    Bake at 275° to 300° for 50 to 60 minutes.

    Yields about 60 bars.
