Ingredients

  • 6 cups raisins or 2 cups white raisins or currants
  • 2 cups prunes
  • 8 1/2 cups mixed candied fruit
  • 3 cups walnuts
  • 1 Tbsp orange rind
  • 1/2 cups fruit juice
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 lb. shortening crisco
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons cloves
  • 1 teaspoon allspices
  • 2 teaspoons mace
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 10 well beaten eggs

Directions

    Rinse raisins and drain on towel.

    Pour boiling water over prunes.

    Let stand 10 minutes.

    DRAIN DRY, use scissors and cut up.

    Combine nuts, rind, all fruits.

    Pour juice over and let stand.
