- 2 cakes yeast
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. milk, scalded and cooled
- 6 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 7 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve the yeast the 1 tablespoon sugar in lukewarm liquid. Add 3 cups flour and beat until smooth.

2Add shortening and sugar that has been thoroughly creamed and eggs beaten light.

3Then add all the rest of the flour and salt.

4Turn on board and knead lightly.

5Place in greased bowl and let rise for 2 hours.

6Roll out in oblong pieces, 1/4 inch thick.

7Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins (optional).

8Roll up lengthwise, cut as desired and put in greased pans to rise again for 1 hour or until light.

9Bake and ice with plain powdered sugar.
