- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Add milk to yeast mixture.

3Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.

4Work shortening into flour until mealy, then add yeast and milk.

5Mix well.

6Keep in a covered bowl in fridge.
