- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 beaten egg
- 3/4 c. milk (for drop biscuits) or 2/3 c. milk (for rolled biscuits)
Directions

1Sift together the dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Combine egg and milk; add to flour.

4Mix all at once.

5Stir until dough follows fork around bowl.

6Place by tablespoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet (or roll out and cut with glass).

7Bake at 450° for 10 to 14 minutes.

8If desired, can chill dough 1 to 3 hours before use.

9Serves 8 to 10.
